ADUKE

Ayobamidele Aladekomo popularly known as ADUKE is an extraordinary performing artiste, a singer, songwriter, guitarist, dancer and actress. Her genre of music can be classified as neo-soul/afro jazz.

She was born to a dentist father and lawyer mother, hails from Ekiti State in Nigeria. Her theatric talent began to manifest at a very early age with her unusual love for deep philosophical thoughts and words, coupled with her enthusiasm for rhythm. In no time, it became obvious that music and the arts generally were not farfetched for her. Art is life for her and music is the core of her passion, like she says, her “art is in her heart”. 

She heads a band named SSV (sticks, strings and voices) and debuted with a major show in 2010, tagged ADUKE and FWENDZ "  an evening of poetry and conscious music featuring poets and musicians like Kafayat Quadri, Sage Hasson, Sistasoul, Bob Ekat. Aduke released her debut single “Made in Lagos” in 2010, a song that discusses rural-urban migration which is a common trend the world over through the eyes of Lagos.

Her second single and video ‘Hear the Voice’ which became a worldwide hit during the ‘Occupy Nigeria’ protests is a socio-political song that draws inspiration from the living conditions of millions of Nigerians whom she has a first-hand connection with.  This video however gained momentum locally and internationally and was adopted as one of the official songs to represent the voice of Nigerian people.

She is involved in theatrical practice and has featured in several stage productions and was nominated in the Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEA) in the best indigenous category.

Aduke is a very promising artiste, who believes that art has the power to better any society. She draws inspiration from life, love and living.
Aduke was a member of a dance-theatre company and has performed in several stage plays. Aduke has also performed her music at several social and literary events and has shared the stage with notable artistes like the late Fatai rolling Dollar, Orlando Julius, Ade Bantu, Femi Kuti, Ebo Taylor, Nneka, to mention but a few.
She is presently working on her debut album.
